Overseas Exchange
Explore how our students build global awareness through cultural immersion trips to Krabi and Vietnam, and virtual exchanges with overseas schools.
PENANG OVERSEAS TRIP
The P5 Prefects went on a Student Leaders Overseas Immersion to Penang from 20 – 23 May. Through the trip, the students went for a school visit to SJK(C) Min Sin School and had opportunities to interact with students from Penang, understand their culture and participate in their signature school activities like calligraphy and Chinese drums. The students also visited places of attraction like Georgetown and the Clan Jetty to learn about the history and vibrant multi-racial culture of Penang. At Entopia, the students got up close with the animals and went for a self-directed tour of the butterfly and insect museum. To immerse themselves into the culture of Penang, the students also participated in a batik-painting workshop. Through these experiences, the students broadened their perspectives, honed their leadership competencies, inculcated R2IGHT values, and forged strong bonds with one another.

CULTURAL IMMERSION PROGRAMME TO KRABI
In 2019, our P5 students went for a Cultural Immersion Trip to Krabi to learn more about our neighbouring countries. It gave them an opportunity to experience what schools are like in other countries as well as learn more about their cultures. The experience gave them a strong sense of rootedness and cultivated in them the OPERA learning dispositions (Open-mindedness. Perseverance. Engagement. Resourcefulness. Awareness).

Ever since COVID19 hit us in 2020, the school had to leverage on technology and ICT to continue to provide opportunities for our students to learn about our South East Asian neighbours. Teachers planned and designed online SLS lesson packages for students to learn more about Thailand's culture, geography, people and the Arts.

CULTURAL IMMERSION PROGRAMME TO VIETNAM
In OEPS, our P6 students are provided with the opportunity to take part in overseas cultural immersion programme to Vietnam since 2017.
The objectives of the trips are as follows:
Develop in the students the 21st Century Competencies of global awareness and cross-cultural skills.
Involve students in a cultural exchange programme through active interaction with pupils in the local school.
Expose students to Vietnam and sensitise them to the place of Singapore in the World.
In 2019, a group of 24 P6 students were accompanied by 5 teachers to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam in October.
The 4 Day-3 Night trip provided the students with several learning opportunities which include:

Teachers planned and designed online SLS lesson packages for students to learn more about Vietnam's culture, geography, people and the Arts. In 2021, the school is collaborating with Doan Thi Diem Primary School (Vietnam) to conduct a virtual cultural immersion programme where students from both sides can learn more about our countries and interact with each other virtually.
